How It Works

From stone to grade in three calibrated steps

No swatches. No guesswork. Every grade starts with a physical reference card and ends with a traceable, serial-linked result.

01

Frame the reference card

Place the gemstone in the card’s center target and point your camera. The viewfinder locks onto the card’s alignment markers and confirms the card is properly framed before capture is allowed.

No card, no grade. The physical reference is what makes the result trustworthy.

02

Capture with the built-in loupe

A digital loupe helps you frame the stone precisely. The engine captures a burst of frames, checks exposure, and samples the stone’s body color in CIE L*a*b* — the same color space used by gemological labs.

Body color is measured, not matched against a printed swatch book.

03

Receive a traceable grade

Your stone is matched against peer-reviewed academic color centroids and assigned a GemMetric™ grade. Every grade is linked to the card’s serial number, so the result is reproducible and auditable.

Each report carries a unique UUID and the card serial it was calibrated against.
